On Fascism

The power of the executive to cast a man into prison
without formulating any charge known to the law,
and particularly to deny him the judgment of his peers,
is in the highest degree odious, and the foundation
of all totalitarian government whether
Nazi or Communist.
Winston S. Churchill, 1943

I guess you are trying to equate this statement with Gitmo??? But, I am sure Churchill was referring to citizens of said totalitarian state . . . . not non-uniformed combatants or terrorists in a war!!!
More like when our little marxist PET jailed Quebecers when he rolled in the military . . . or like your good friend Fidel did a couple of years back when some citizens started a library in Cuba, with books that they collected. Fidels storm troopers closed the library, the books were burned and about 20 or more people got various jail terms from 8 to 20 years. Now that's "progressive".
Used to be that . . . in a war . . . non-uniformed combatants were treated as spies . . . they were shot on the spot . . . the folks in Gitmo are fortunate to be there. Next you'll be telling us they are flushing k*rans in the prison without toilets.
But how about those SUV's in Scotland . . . wonder how long it will be till we see the same thing in Montreal and TO???

I'm sorry but you're flat out wrong. I'm glad you can somehow "channel" Churchill but you know very little about the man. Still, you've had your rant.

That is exactly what Gitmo is - a Gulag for the enemies of the US.

"not non-uniformed combatants or terrorists in a war!!!"

that assertion requires proof, in a court. Oops, that defeats the purpose of Gitmo doesn't it?

Nope, in both cases, that was pretty totalitarian. In case you missed it the NDP spoke out against PET. As for the second, if you can provide a link and proof it happened I can assure you all the folks you are railing against would equally rail against it. I don't know why you think lefties love Castro so much...

Two idiots that couldn't make decent bombs and ended up getting captured after burning themselves? Yeah scary stuff. You might need th change your diaper.

Did you notice they were Iraqi ex-pats that were motivated because of Britain's role in the war there? A couple of poorly self-trained, but angry individuals. And since Canada is NOT IN IRAQ, I'd say the likely hood is pretty slim this will happen in Toronto or Montreal. Never occured to you that the war in Iraq has created more terrorism than it ever prevented. Scotland and indeed July 7 is the proof.

But if you want to quiver in the corner like a coward, scared of every Muslim you see, know yourself out. Me, I'm not stupid enough to play into the hands of terrorists.

But please, continue to scream "yeah but!" or "they started it!" whenever your totalitarian actions are brought up. Your hypocrisy is quite entertaining.
