UBC Given Official Tory Dispensation to Hire Owens

The Vancouver Sun reports that, "former Conservative MP John Reynolds, now a lobbyist and a senior election campaign adviser to Prime Minister Stephen Harper, says he gave his blessing when the University of B.C. asked him if it would suffer negative ramifications by hiring Liberal MP Stephen Owen as its vice-president."

In other words, British Columbia's largest university shuddered in fear of what Boss Harp might do if he found out they were going to hire a retired Liberal MP.

What does it say about the university's take on the Harper regime that it was driven to seek Tory pre-clearance? Then again, what does it say for academic integrity?
