If you think Buckley is a neo-con, you are really missing the boat. Several boats, actually.

Starting Hint: "Neo" means "new".

I would have liked to see the author of 'On Negro Inferiority' written in 1969(!) live long enough to watch Barack Obama become President - but his last few years of almost despairingly bewildered writings did indicate that he lasted long enough to see movement conservatism reach it's inevitable illogical extremes.

This is taken from a National Review editorial arguing against giving blacks the vote in 1957 entitled "Why the South Must Prevail":

“The central question that emerges … is whether the White community in the South is entitled to take such measures as are necessary to prevail, politically and culturally, in areas in which it does not prevail numerically? The sobering answer is Yes — the White community is so entitled because, for the time being, it is the advanced race. It is not easy, and it is unpleasant, to adduce statistics evidencing the cultural superiority of White over Negro: but it is a fact that obtrudes, one that cannot be hidden by ever-so-busy egalitarians and anthropologists.”

Neo or not, that sure is conservative. By the way, anon, Buckley was very much of the neo-con movement.

Buckley WAS a neocon. New because he wanted BIG Government and BIG Military for the cold war. Get a clue.
