Obama - Climate Change Threat is "Terrifying"

Quick question. If Obama gets all the briefings and knows that the potential effects of global warming are "terrifying" what in Hell is our leader, Sleeping Beauty, doing pushing bitumen and declining to get behind the Paris climate agreement? Photo ops will not save his kids, his grandkids or yours.

That a leader of the Liberal Party would ignore this is, to me, appalling. That the Liberal membership condone, even support this is, likewise, to me appalling.

You are absolutely right, Mound, but unfortunately, as Obama said, because it is not a single catastrophic event, people do not appreciate the peril of climate change. However, I suspect that is changing as more and more are engulfed in floods, droughts, wildfires and heatwaves.

I expect you're right, Lorne. The problem with your scenario is that it leaves society "behind the power curve." Getting ahead of these looming challenges is essential if we're to even blunt their impacts. Getting far ahead is critical to any hope of averting the impacts in any meaningful way. Playing catch up is for losers. Leading economists who've studied our environmental predicament have come to this conclusion. It's about twice as costly to enact half measures - a reality that should be sending rational minds reeling.

Anyong......JT is doing his best to appease Alberta. It is very clear as nothing reasonable is being said as to why from Quebec east doesn't want that pipe line. Anyone hear of Muskrat Falls? Towers are being built at this very minute to carry hydro to the true Eastern Provinces including Quebec and Newfoundland. They are building an underground cable across the shortest part between Labrador and Newfoundland right now. Towers are being built on the Island of Newfoundland to carry the power. What is not to understand? Alberta needs to learn they do not run this country even though they would like to do so. The pipe line east will only provide about 50 jobs after it is build with the treat of oil spills on the St. Lawrence as the pipe line crosses it. In the meantime, JT needs to learn Alberta does not run this country either. One has to ask, why does JT think it is just fine and dandy to keep drilling for oil, scaring and poisoning environment? Is he running the country or is Oil?
