I recall a law passed in BC in 2010 which allowed police to enter homes to remove signs seen to be anti-Olympic.

Chris Hedges is second to none in his analysis of the US, the world, impending doom and what we need to do about it. Where he loses me is when he starts to preach. I'm never sure who he is preaching to; me or himself? Hedges delves into his Calvinist past and his dark night of the soul. As the moderator said, "It feels like group therapy."

Over the years I have watched several of Hedges' presentations and I always hit the same wall. I am sure the problem is mine. I am not a saint and have no interest in becoming one. I burned out that urge a long time ago.

I run into the same wall, Toby. It could be that Hedges is preaching to a younger generation, trying to mobilize them. They're the ones who'll have to carry the fight after all. Old geezers of my class won't be of much use even if there were more of us engaged with this.

He is a fulminating Old Testament prophet. In one of his speeches posted on line, he is clearly imitating the cadences of Martin Luther King. But it doesn't put me off, as long as he speaks the truth.
