The Conservative Party of Canada has settled a libel action brought by one of its own, former candidates.
Lawyer Alan Riddell ran in Ottawa in the 2004 election. He subsequently was replaced as the riding's Tory candidate. In the wake of that, Riddell alleged he'd been promised $50,000 sto step aside.
Harpo, in his typical arrogance, disputed Riddell's claim of a deal. Riddell sued and the court found there was indeed the agreement alleged, notwithstanding Harper's denial.
Riddell then sued the party that had labelled him a liar. The party - that would be the CPC, Riddell's very own Conservatives - announced it has now settled that lawsuit.
