You have to see this to believe it. In Minneapolis, cops slash the tires of protesters' cars.
"State Patrol troopers strategically deflated tires to keep vehicles from being used in attacks, and so we could tow the vehicles later for collection of evidence if necessary," Minnesota Department of Public Safety spokesman Bruce Gordon said in a statement to NPR.

Someone once made the comment that the only difference between cops and the Hell's Angels were their uniforms. They really are a bunch of juvenile delinquents, punks and cowards.
This was totally unlawful. They would need a court order to do this and no court would do that. On what possible grounds? As for the comment, my guess would be Hunter S. Thompson.
Someone ought to have called the cops on those black block vandals! Oh wait, never mind...

Cap, how does a cop show cause to do that?
Some enterprising attorney should put together a class-action lawsuit. It would be very interesting to find out what rules of engagement the police were acting on, what were the plans for crowd control and who gave the order to slash tires.

Not really a surprise is it? At least it's now made the mainstream, but I read about this last week in the alternative press. They also showed pics and videos of suspiciously clean-cut white men wearing white armbands inciting crowds to violence wjile pretending to be on protesters' sides.
Here's a retired American history prof's summary of how US police forces came to be. He lives in Portugal, having spent his life teaching in Germany. After watching Rosemary Barton interview Lucki head of the RCMP and the non-answers she got, read it and consider also why the North West M<ounted Police was formed in the first place.

.. h/t to BM for that link.. A very good read
It was an interesting article but it kept ringing that "I need to fact check that" bell and I haven't the time to do that. In other words I'll take it as the author's opinion but that's about it. Still it is interesting.
