You have to give Hamid his due. He doesn't let reality stand in the way when it comes to governing Afghanistan and handling the rekindled civil war.
Karzai has a peace offer for the Taliban - surrender. His plan calls for putting Taliban foot soldiers through "deradicalization" classes. The Talib leadership can then go into exile in a third country, probably Saudi Arabia.
Karzai's plan might make some sense, at least a tiny bit, if only he was winning and the Taliban were facing imminent defeat. He's not and neither are they.
