Obama Gets It. Will Premier Campbell?

The Deepwater Horizon oil spill fallout is reverberating throughout Washington. It has even driven president Obama to suspend exploratory oil drilling in the Arctic Ocean offshore of Alaska.

The move will stop Shell from drilling five wells in the Chukchi and Beaufort seas off northern Alaska weeks before it had hoped to start work, an administration official told McClatchy Newspapers.

The move will stop for now a controversial expansion of oil drilling in a part of the world that could hold vast stores of oil and natural gas, but which environmentalists warn would come at great risk
.

"He is suspending proposed exploratory drilling in the Arctic," an administration official said on condition of anonymity to talk before [Interior Secretary] Salazar's report is officially released Thursday. "He will not consider applications for permits to drill in the Arctic until 2011 because of the need for further information-gathering, evaluation of proposed drilling technology, and evaluation of oil-spill response capabilities for Arctic waters."

Now if only BC Premier Gordo Campbell would step back and re-examine offshore oil and gas exploration along the seismically active BC coast. When the government keeps warning us this mega-earthquake could hit any day, will probably hit some time in the coming century, this might not be the era for offshore oil wells in British Columbia waters.

What can a person expect from people like Campbell when he is quite prepared to build a dam on the Peace River, flooding what exists to be the richest temperate farm land in all of Canada. No need to worry though huh??. We have sooooo much land in this country!! That must be the juveniel, idiotic, tunnelled vision, short sighted stupid thinking of people like Campbell. They DO NOT know what thinking outside the box means or maybe it's all about under the table payoffs. Voicing how it is doesn't mean a person is uneducated either. It's what these people understand. The development of southern Ontario and the Fraser Valley illustrate how profoundly indifferent we are to the loss of our best farmland. BC, of course, doesn't have a surplus of arable land to start with.

Only idiots like Campbell and Hansen, would flood, the most supreme farmland in Canada. Farmers, can even grow melons, in the beautiful Peace Country. The Site C Dam, is thought to be for, Alberta's dirty tar sands, or for Arnie S, in California. Campbell and Hansen, go non stop, one thing after the other, everything they touch, they destroy. They are, in a rabid frenzy for money.Dumping toxic mine waste into Fish Lake. Every animal and fish, that depend on the Lake, will die. The poisons will leach into our eco system. They want to run China's dirty oil tankers, in our coastal inlets. There is still oil collecting among the rocks, from the Exxon Valdez spill 20 years ago. And the most horrid of all, Campbell, Hansen and the BC Liberal Party, want to drill, off shore gas and oil wells. When that spill happens, the Orca Whales will die, people from all over come to see the Orca's, all the marine life, in the spills path will perish.
