"Green on Blue" has become the term for Afghan security officials - police or army - turning on and gunning down Western forces in their country.
The latest incident cost the lives of three U.S. Special Forces soldiers who had been invited by an Afghan police commander to discuss security matters over dinner. As the American soldiers were having dinner the commander and his men shot them dead and took off.
The commander was the head of Afghan Police for Sangin district, a real honcho.
When the Afghan army and police service have been so thoroughly infiltrated by the insurgency what is the point of staying on one day longer than necessary? Why train and arm people, some of whom we know will then use what they've been given, what they've learned to turn on us?
It's time to get out of Dodge.
