I will bet that he remains in power for the full term. The Republicans fought long and hard to attain power, including obstructionist actions during the Obama administration. They are not going to let go now. They will back Trump until his hair turns grey!! An audit is the only way to bring down Trump.
It's curious, Owen, how we remember the worst U.S. presidents about as well as we remember the best - only there seem to be somewhat more in the "worst" category.
I agree on the audit issue, TrailBlazer, but I think Trump is more vulnerable than you imagine.
Trump's threat isn't the House or the Senate or Comey either. It's Bob Mueller and his cadre of top litigators and sleuths. Both Newt Gingrich and Trump's lawyer have recently gone after Mueller and there's talk that Trump may fire Mueller as he did Comey. The Trump camp seems particularly vexed at Mueller's decision to bring on board the Justice Department's top criminal law expert, Michael Dreeben. One law prof described Dreeben as "the most brilliant and most knowledgeable federal criminal lawyer in America." Dreeben is just one of the big gun lawyers Mueller has recruited.
It's hard to imagine Trump firing Mueller. The optics would be terrible, worse by a good measure than when Nixon fired Watergate special prosecutor, Archibald Cox.

CFR › Title 28 › Chapter VI › Part 600 › Section 600.4
§ 600.4 Jurisdiction.
(a) Original jurisdiction. The jurisdiction of a Special Counsel shall be established by the Attorney General. The Special Counsel will be provided with a specific factual statement of the matter to be investigated. ...
(b) Additional jurisdiction. If in the course of his or her investigation the Special Counsel concludes that additional jurisdiction beyond that specified in his or her original jurisdiction is necessary in order to fully investigate and resolve the matters assigned, or to investigate new matters that come to light in the course of his or her investigation, he or she shall consult with the Attorney General, who will determine whether to include the additional matters within the Special Counsel's jurisdiction or assign them elsewhere.

Or could whoever the AG or acting-AG happens to be at the time just determine to assign any relevant "new matters" to File 13? It puts me in mind of something that was reported regarding the terms of reference for the Oliphant Inquiry: the recommendation that the “well-tilled ground” involving matters related to Airbus be excluded from a process that, at least in public perception, was supposed to determine whether Brian's brown envelopes had any association with Airbus.

Mound,
Impeaching a President is political process - with legal features.
The House impeaches and the Senate judges. The justice dept watches.
It ain't happening with this group of GOP unless tRump becomes a liability bigger than the injury of impeachment.
And, be careful what you wish for ... President Pence?
