The story tonight is Barak Obama. A few months back he trailed well behind the Democratic Party's heir apparent, Hillary Clinton. Tonight, in the first primary, the Iowa caucus, he trounced Clinton by a substantial margin.
Huckabee also knocked off his own Goliath, Mitt Romney, despite being outspent four-to-one by the former front-runner. Romney conceded early in the evening when he came to trail the Arkansas evangelist by ten points.
It seems Obama won on the Iraq war issue. Those who considered health care the foremost issue tended to vote Clinton. Exit polls showed those who only made up their minds in the last three days tended to support Edwards.
Count Rudy skipped Iowa to spend the day campaigning in Florida. He plans to make his stand in the New Hampshire primaries in five days.
