Let Me Run This Through My B.S. Remover

I read a tweet from David Suzuki today. He wrote that we're not even keeping up with man-made greenhouse gas emissions. No, we're steadily falling further and further behind.

That got me thinking about our prime minister and his position that we can't take aggressive action on climate change because it could harm the economy.

Hmm, the economy. What economy? Oh yeah, I get it. He's talking about the "carbon economy." We can't let concern for the environment harm Canada's  carbon economy. We're a petro-state after all. A budding carbon energy superpower of sorts.

We must protect, nurture and expand the carbon economy. It's what petro-states do.

One way or another, Global Warming is going to massively "change" the economy.

Does one plan and organize to meet the future,

Or stick one's head in the sand and hope "the economy" can weather the storms.

Canada's not the only country playing ostrich.

Ain't no use in rollin' out no green plan,
We don't need it anymore.
Ain't no use in rollin' out no green plan,
We shoulda done it way before.
When the sea level rises above your coast,
Don't look out the window cause
You'll be toast.
We are the reason we are going extinct.
But don't think twice, it's alright.

I think what sets us apart from most, Jay, is our focus on bitumen rather than conventional crude oil. Venezuela, of course, is pushing a similar crud.

.. we (Canadians) have yet to see or be presented with a credible, condensed, coherent explanation re the 'Economy' and the so called nation building all wrapped up in rosy political promises.. and echoed by all n sundry. Kind of like a succinct 'why the sky is blue' statement. Or how compound interest works. Or how mommy and daddy make a baby. Instead we get the motherhood statement of Gawd made the sky on Day Five, the tooth fairy came.. and a stork brought our baby sister.

Current fables or myths spouted by political animals, never mention who actually owns our resources. Who is getting subsidies to extract them.. yes yes.. the licence fees & royalties go to province and the feds who really don't lift a finger - so easy money. But what does each 'job' actually cost - and gets paid for by all Canadian taxpayers? Who else is profiting (pie chart please)

Where are the contracts from Asia for Alberta dilbit ? For LNG ? For higher quality petroleum resources ? We keep being fed political pablum by our political parties. Facts ? Why bother.. ? Just tell the folks we're going to clean up the oceans of plastic.. and don't mention we have yet to save a single wild salmon.. but subsidize foreign owned farmed salmon.. which may be infected, just as Chilean, Irish, Scottish salmon were infected and wiped out. By the way, how is Canada's east coast fishery doing ? You know.. the cod, the haddock, the flounder.. the salmon ? andy signs of life ? Or statement from Fisheries and Oceans ? Or are the west coast wild commercial and sportfishing, tourism industries supposed to roll over and die as well.. The east coast is a fine working model of how that's done
