If You Were a Gambling Man

What are the odds? What are the odds that Donald Trump will be impeached or that he'll serve his full first term or that he might be re-elected to a second term?

The gaming houses are running these lines. Ladbrokes is offering even money on DJT completing his first term, 4/5 odds on impeachment and a 20 to 1 longshot on Trump winning the Nobel Peace Prize. If he is impeached the best odds, 2/1, are on 2017. If he survives 2017 Trump's odds improve.

The sports book, Monmouth Park, has the odds of Trump resigning during this first term at 11/8, a 42% chance.

Paddy Power has impeachment at 10/11 odds. The book offers side bets on what Trump would be impeached for. In descending order are tax evasion, treason, bribery and perjury.

If Trump can make it past six months he could well do two terms.
His supporters are working overtime to deflect attention away from the Russia connections be they true or false.

Rush Limbaugh is in overdrive trying to change the direction of attention.

TB, get a grip. At 35%, Trump's "honeymoon" ratings are worse than Nixon's worst during Watergate. His legislative agenda is in shambles and he can't pretend any longer that he's going to fulfil his promises to the gullibillies who shoehorned him into power. I think the guy is already running out of steam.

Yes one has to be very gullible to not be in favor of the TPP and a brand-spanking new Cold War with Russia.

Remember the good old days when you'd wake up in a sweat dreaming of ICBMs raining down on your city's core? It's a veritable crime against humanity to deny Millennials from experiencing the specter of nuclear Armageddon!

If only Hillary had won the election, we could've had that and so much more! Jobs, jobs, jobs! So many jobs from free-trade outsourcing and hemispherical open borders you have to work 2 or 3 of them!

Americans could've had free trade with China!

Oh those wretched gullibles! Those evil racist fascist homophobic misogynist gullibles!

What was Trump's understanding of the reasons that the TPP should have been opposed given that he was unaware of which countries were parties to the proposed agreement? Did Trump ever ask any of the members of his Billionaire Genius Club for their opinions on the years-long effort to extend permanent MFN status to China?

Of course, there's always the specific Yabbut Hillary. But is Trump's approach to foreign policy any less likely to invite a nuclear Armageddon than Clinton's would have been? He seems to be a man who won't admit it when he's confused.

I'm not going to read any assumptions into what you've said here, but I think you've made a few of them. You should try to be more specific.

Trump certainly has his shortcomings. And I surely hope Democrats have something more to offer than, "Ah ha! You should've voted for Hillary!" That is never going to stop being ridiculous.

So both Trump and Hillary were junk hands. A long list of junk presidents going back to LBJ, the last New Deal president. A man among infants despite his shortcomings. He took up MLK and civil rights. A grand accomplishment.

Since then nothing.

The two most sensible and substantial policies during this time -- the last 50 years -- killing free trade globalization and stopping 'deep state' monsters from reviving the Cold War with Russia.

Can anyone top these two? Show 'em if you got 'em.
