Domestic Terrorism on the Rise Across the Hateful States of America - and It's Mainly Right-Wing

The United States continues to experience domestic terrorism incidents that are Islamic-related but two-thirds of the country's terrorism attacks are homegrown and the product of right-wing extremism. Or, as we like to call them, Team Trump.
Researchers and journalists for the news site Quartz said they used data compiled by the Global Terrorism Database that has tabulated terrorist events around the world since 1970. The database is supported by the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism (START), affiliated with the University of Maryland.
“A Quartz analysis of the database shows that almost two-thirds of terror attacks in the (United States) last year were tied to racist, anti-Muslim, homophobic, anti-Semitic, fascist, anti-government, or xenophobic motivations,” its posting says.
Hmm, what a coincidence that America is currently in the grip of a racist, anti-Muslim, homophobic, anti-Semitic (selectively), fascist, anti-government and wildly xenophobic president, Donald J. Trump.
Quartz said the Global Terrorism Database annual report includes “cases where violence is used by non-state actors to achieve political, economic, religious, or social goals through fear and coercion.”
For example, it said, the database “includes ideologically motivated attacks like the Charleston church shooting, but not ones such as the Aurora movie theater massacre.”
The database also classifies cases according to attackers’ affiliations, such as the Ku Klux Klan. When an affiliation is unknown, the database lists the participant’s ideological identity if it’s known, such as white extremist.
For further reading on right-wing extremist terrorism, check out Terror from the Right, the Southern Poverty Law Center's directory of major terrorist plots and right-wing political violence from 1995 to the present.
And honourable mention goes to the unindicted co-conspirators including the Tea Party branch of the Republican Party, the cast and crew of Congressional Republicans who shrewdly manipulate this malevolence and the ultimate dog-whistler, and exploiter-in-chief, Donald J. Trump.

America is a powder keg that's getting ready to explode, and when it does Trump isn't going to have the slightest idea what to do. I've been saying since before the 2016 election as soon as it became clear that Hillary and Trump, the two most hated prominent Americans, were going to face off that either way it went all it was going to take was another major economic crash to end what little aspects remained of American "democracy." Now we're on the precipice of said crash just as the right wing is sharpening its claws and liberal hysteria is peaking.

My bet is that America will undergo a military coup before Trump's term is over, but the crash may end up being so bad that even the Pentagon won't be able to maintain control as they have shown themselves to be not so good at conducting occupations.

Digby quotes Marshall about the hate laden anti-Semitic ad the Insane Clown POSus Campaign ran in 2016.

Now I’m not saying Trump is a Nazi, but the Nazi’s think Trump is a Nazi.

"Because of the social learning dynamic of imitation, Sayoc’s bombing campaign and Bowers’ shooting spree, as well as the President’s blaming the victim this morning will provide permission for others to act. The President’s comments regarding both Sayoc’s and Bower’s acts of terrorism are classic examples of what criminologists call neutralization and drift. Specifically: 1) denial of responsibility; 2) denial of injury; 3) denial of victim; 4) condemnation of the condemners; and the 5) appeal to higher loyalties. The first three justifications all deal with denial. They allow the offender to rationalize his behavior as outside of his control. He or she is not really hurting anyone. And even if someone is hurt they may have deserved it. The fourth justification allows the offender to invert the knowledge of her wrongdoing back upon those criticizing it by asserting that the condemners are hypocrites, do equally bad things, or are out to get him. Finally, the fifth rationalization allows for the justification of behavior on the basis of loyalty to one’s group rather than one’s society. "

Canadian Border Patrol needs to start searching 'Merkin's social media feeds to keep the rabid terrorists that compose 40% of the US population out.

Alt-America: The Rise of the Radical Right in the Age of Trump (2017) by David Neiwert should probably find a place in your stacks eventually. Read through his Eliminations in America series on his blog, and that series still informs my language of US far-right extremism.

All of the haters have taken Trump's rhetoric as a free pass. And there will be hell to pay.

.. Chris Hedges posted a stark essay regarding the Religious Right, Mound.. I can forward a link as required (I often retweet on Twitter, so I can find such gems & share) but I know you're plugged in re Mr Hedges, indeed far ahead of me..

I try to avoid the quagmire of overall North American 'politics' but Trump/GOP and fanatical base are an astonishing threat to Canada and our environment. Toss in the love affair our neoliberal corporatist 'Public Servants' are engaged in with them.. and its 'Houston, we have a problem' in Canada, eh !

Trudeau I will dig into later.. and any religious right claims to fame, but suffice to say, at least they aint kissing Trump ass totally, daily.. just enough to reveal the sellout to Big Energy et al. The NDP are lost n adrift in nowhereville. Andrew Scheer has my attention currently.. His manly attempts to mask dim American style evangelism via gun affection are laughable however.

Unfortunately for him, he is getting press re his astonishing kill, on his very first deer hunt.. the great white tail tale. Full disclosure, not only can I read tide charts.. I am extremely familiar with ballistics charts.. especially, .22 - 22/250 - 243 - 270 & in particular, 308 Cal. Now 'beginners luck' Andrew Scheer crows how he bagged a white tail at 400 - 450 metres with a borrowed 308 rifle on his very first 'hunt'

In all my years I have never heard of such a wondrous shot. Pray tell.. has any intrepid journalist sought a witness or asked our 'Prime Minister - Surely Just In Waiting' if that was a prone shot or a standing shot, off a sniper tripod or after a crafty stalk, or from a blind ? Deary me he shames moi and any of my shooting friends ! On first thought I thought.. wha ? That's a 'hold' via steel sights or massive scope of 4-5 feet above the unsuspecting deer.. and I wonder what breeze or wind direction was calculated, at what altitude (say it aint Saskatchewan !) and what load ? A factory Winchester or a custom handload boat tail Hornaby Express 130 grain, match quality ?

Regardless, he regales Canadians on how yummy 'his' jerk venison was, after he presumably humped the doe or buck carcass to camp, maybe even brought it home after no doubt sharing with primitive First Nations armed only with bow n arrow.. and hungry .. and can barely wait to indoctrinate his son.. seeing as he is so stoked he now owns multiple firearms.. Zowee eh !

Who needs a ballistics chart when one has such an overload
of good luck, its just shooting out their arse ?
What next Andrew ? Some buffalo ? Mebbe an unsuspecting boreal caribou ?
Or some jerked bear meat and a trophy head for the wall ?
Surely you can score a license for two
and bring along Jason Kenney or Donald Trump Jr

Thus he and his caucus gather the gun faction vote to their bosom.. ergh
