Furious Leader Stephen Harper has dodged another bullet. Governor-General Michaelle Jean has granted the ill-tempered Tory a time-out to spare him having to face defeat on a non-confidence motion in the House of Commons where Steve has definitely lost confidence of the majority opposition.
The reprieve gives Harper a couple of months to overcome his base instincts and try to come up with a budget that Canadians expect in recessionary times. For a guy who will do anything to cling to power, it should be an interesting two-month workout. Maybe he'll lose that punk attitude along the way.

Part of me regrets this and part doesn't. The part that doesn't, likes the idea of a chastened Harpocrit in charge of the government as the Canadian economy goes down the tubes. Even though our decline is related to global conditions he will be blamed for it and the opposition will hammer him for not doing enough. He will eventually be so hated that people will clamor for an election, he will be tossed out and and NDP-Liberal coalition will take office.
I hear you LG. Until recently I had thought that it was just possible that Harper would understand that, in Canada, moderation works. But he's as predictable as the moth drawn to the flame. The guy can't help himself.
