60 Minutes' Bob Simon Under Attack

It took a lot of courage and integrity for 60 Minutes correspondent Bob Simon to produce his recent piece on the Palestinian plight in the West Bank and Israel's apartheid policy. The network and Simon have since come under attack from Jewish groups enraged at the report. Watch it for yourself and then think about writing CBS News with your thoughts.

I don't get it. Conservatives love the democracy that they so hate; conservatives hate the democracy that they so love. They love Israeli democracy because its the best in the Middle East; they hate Israeli democracy because it uses proportional representation to elected the members of the Knesset.

Years ago, members of the Jewish community wanted the book, Three Wishes by Deborah Ellis removed from school libraries because they mentioned that the book lacked proper context. Translation: it made the Jews look bad in their opinion. In the book, Israeli and Palestinian children made comments about their lives. Some of those comments were pretty grim and harsh. I do see a parallel between Three Wishes and the 60 Minutes segment: both demonstrate relations between the Israelis and Palestinians in the rawest form. Both make the Israeli Jews look bad in their eyes. Sometimes, the truth hurts.

...to elect

Just to add a thought about elections, the Palestinian Authority used a non-proportional voting system which minority of the voters elected a majority of the members of the PA assembly from Hamas.

So much for free speech. At least this must make the Iggy-Harper-Bush troika happy though.
