Carolyn Porco, one of Carl Sagan's protégés, went on to become the head of imaging science for the Cassini spacecraft now orbiting Saturn. Last month, at a celebration of Sagan at which his papers were dedicated to the Library of Congress, Porco revealed her magnificent update of Sagan's Pale Blue Dot image, greatly improved by the new technology aboard Cassini.
