Jody Wilson-Raybould is an astounding and inspiring choice for Justice/AG too.

I wish them both the best of luck. In fact I wish them all the best of luck.

It's amazing. After a decade with a government staffed by hayseed cabinets we wind up with a truly top-drawer collection of men and women. The depth of Trudeau's caucus is evident from those he wasn't able to appoint to cabinet. Andrew Leslie, for example, Joyce Murray and others - there are so many cabinet-material backbenchers.

And then, right after the first meeting of the new cabinet, before the new ministers had even had the opportunity to meet their deputy ministers and be introduced to their various departments, the "professional" media in Canada showed us just how stupid they really are.

Did they really expect these men and women to substantively answer questions about complex policy questions before they even knew where their offices were. Before they had even seen the face of their deputies let alone heard their voices.I have more understanding and sympathy for Harper's decision to not bother with them after watching that scrum.

And Rosemary Barton, who I've usually got a lot of time for, referring to Stephane Dion as having the chance to "revive his political career" when he's been the MP for Saint-Laurent since she was 20 years old.

Just an absurdist display today.

Dana, I think a lot of journalists have been 'processed' in the era of corporate journalism. Like the public they've been either dumbed down or compromised. Let's hope they can get their game back. Of course it's been fairly easy on them to toe the line when their corporate bosses and the government shared the same bed. These may be uncharted waters ahead. We'll see.

yes Trudeaus choice in cabinet was absolutely fabulous. A wonderful sight to see after a decade of dumbassery:)

Harper never attracted top-drawer talent, Deb. That wouldn't have suited his iron fisted, one-man rule. He wanted submissives, sycophants, just capable enough to carry out orders and recite talking points.Harper sucked the oxygen out of the cabinet room and it's going to take the party a long time to recover from that.
