The ethical, philosophical and societal implications of this are truly mind-boggling. Imagine getting your hands on a functioning, entirely lethal pistol a mere matter of downloading a file and running it through a 3D printer.

Wouldn't said pistol also be invisible to metal detectors, as long as it wasn't loaded at the time? Gotta get me one.....
As soon as people like this guy begin posting their files online and they go viral the genie is out of the bottle. Future generations of 3D printers capable of working in more durable, stronger materials could make the situation worse yet. What could government do but ban these printers?
