It sounds as though the Polar Vortex is returning for a two-week encore engagement. With any luck it won't be quite as bad as the first bout, -20C for Toronto, -35C for Winnipeg. Still pretty damned cold. Sounds as though it'll sweep down into the eastern U.S. also.
The flip side is that we're going to remain in mild, dry conditions here on the west coast. In case you haven't heard that's really bad news, especially for drought stricken California, where the vital snowcap on the Sierra Madre has failed miserably.
The point is you may be enduring cold conditions but there's no winners out here either.
