Rob Ford's Re-Election Campaign Gearing Up

Ford handlers have already selected their campaign theme song.

This is not to suggest any shred of equivalency between the late Ms. Winehouse's struggle with substance abuse and that of Toronto's buffoon mayor.  Amy Winehouse was a genuine talent and her death a complete tragedy.   Ford is, well, neither a talent nor a tragedy merely what passes as acceptable today in Conservative ranks.

Like most of us, to the extent I pay attention to Ford at all, it's usually focused on his latest buffoonery.  The problem with that is it helps Ford by allowing his most recent fiasco to wash over the litany of outrages that preceeded it.

Salon.com has published an excellent register of this punk's record and refreshing the mind about Rob Ford can be stomach-churning.

I just got off the phone from a call to my brother in Ontario. He practices criminal law and speculated on using the "Rob Ford defence" to argue for light sentencing for drug convictions. "Yeah, so the kid got caught with a bag of weed, so what? The mayor of Canada's biggest city smokes crack with hard-core, murderous drug dealers and he's not even thrown out of office."
