Speaking to the Texas Tribune on Tuesday, Cruz said that contemporary “global warming alarmists are the equivalent of the flat-Earthers.”
“You know it used to be it is accepted scientific wisdom the Earth is flat, and this heretic named Galileo was branded a denier,” he said.
In Cruz’s opinion, when it comes to climate change, his denier position places him alongside 17th Century scientist Galileo Galilei, who was also considered to be denying the mainstream knowledge of his day. According to Cruz’s logic, he is taking the minority view that human-caused climate change is not happening, just as Galileo took the minority view that the scientific method should be trusted over the Catholic Church.

How typical that he doesn't even get the Galileo vs. Church controversy right. Nobody claimed the earth was flat. The argument was heliocentric vs. earth-centric. Galileo claimed the earth orbited around the sun. The Church claimed the earth was round but at the centre, with the universe going around it.
Of course, Cruz might still believe that one.
At times like this, Mound, I am ever so grateful that Mr Cruz has renounced his Canadian citizenship.
I have a hard time accepting that Cruz believes much of the crap he keeps spewing out. He's pimping for the Tea Party niche vote and he'll say whatever he thinks they want to hear to get it.
I too am grateful that he had to renounce his Cdn. citizenship. Silver lining...
I think I clarified his postion for him.
Climate jihad is still jihad, just saying.
