It Sure Looks Like Trump is Cracking Up.

Maybe Donald Trump is unhinged, mentally deranged. Remarks he made during an interview with NBC Nightly News today must raise doubts about the screwball in the Oval Office.

The White House nonsense that Comey's firing had nothing to do with the FBI investigation into dealings between the Russians and the Trump campaign.

The Trump White House has gone out of their way to assure Americans that Trump did not fire Comey because of the Russia investigation, but instead because of Comey's behavior.

Yet Trump himself admitted he had the Russia probe on his mind when he decided to can Comey — a direct contradiction that raises questions about the appropriateness of Comey's dismissal.

"When I decided to [fire Comey], I said to myself, you know, this Russia thing with Trump and Russia is a made-up story," Trump told [Lester] Holt.

Re: Mike Flynn

\Holt asked Trump why he didn't immediately fire former national security adviser Mike Flynn upon learning that Flynn was vulnerable to being blackmailed by the Russians. Trump responded that White House Counsel Don McGahn "didn't make it sound like an emergency."

Trump didn't elaborate about why he didn't just assume that Flynn being compromised by a foreign adversary might be a problem. Yet that's the story he gave for why Flynn remained in his role, with access to confidential information, 18 days after the White House learned about Flynn's contacts with the Russians and the possible consequences that entailed.

Bear in mind here that Trump only fired Flynn after the Washington Post broke the story. When Trump discussed the firing he blamed it on the newspaper, not Flynn, not Flynn's lying, not the fact that Flynn was compromised. There's no indication of any sort that Mike Flynn would not still be Trump's National Security Adviser had the story not leaked to the media.

Trump is obviously mentally tired, perhaps exhausted. He can't even keep his lies straight any longer. It's time to get out the leghold trap, the bear trap.

I don't normally like to see someone being hammered when he's down and showing weakness. Sometimes when I see Trump dragging his sorry ass around, or making a fool of himself as he did in this interview, I begin to empathize. But then I remember what a totally arrogant and despotic jerk he becomes once he senses that he's achieved some minor victory and starts feeling his oats again.

They're going to have to put out that trap sooner or later, so I think they shouldn't ease up on the hammer in the mean time. It's just too bad that Mrs. Pence keeps such close tabs on her preacher man. But then again, there's a lot more of the same and at least two even worse where he came from.

.. lame duck donald ..
He outdid himself this morning.. or overnight with his finest foolish blurts from a seemingly broken mind. One tweet hurls venomous threats to Cormey about 'he better hope there's no "tapes of our conversations" .. before he leaks' The others are similar and as astonishing. He's declared was on individuals & any entities who object to being attacked via social media or at Press Briefings. Today's tweets carry a shrill howling resonance. We know from a recent Time Magazine article that Trump may return to the Oval Office after dinner and ask staff 'if they got those tweets out.. so there it is. He does it himself after retiring to watch cable news and replays. As always, my attention stays on the Environment and any threats to nature. So Donald can shriek from his balcony, or shout from a streetcorner or golf every day, I care not. But he is quite capable of setting back, indeed reversing any and all current or future defenses for our shared Environment. He is fine with extreme pollution, destruction of vast ecologies, trashing species & food chains. People will not belief his tweeted venom when he gets down to attacking environmentalism.

"There's a lot of turmoil in the FBI. You know it ...I know it ...EVERYBODY knows it ..."

Riiiight!
That's certainly what's first and foremost on MY mind, for sure: "Gee, I can't get over how screwed-up our FBI is".
Always the first thing on my mind when I wake up---even ahead of my "morning piss" and first cup of coffee.
I mean, what else could there ever be to dwell on in one's personal life? It's not like I could ever have any personal issues or any interests of my own to focus on. It's always about the FBI. Who DOESN'T constantly think about the FBI? What else IS there?
Oh, yeah, that's right ....North Korea and Russian hacking ....

John, I think it's a natural instinct of decent people to feel empathy for another human being in this state but, you're right, there's no reason for it in the case of this man so obviously and totally undeserving of anyone's compassion.

Sal, I'm guessing that there are several people in Washington today taking a close look at Article 25. The way Trump is heading he invites being removed for unfitness to serve.

Tal, I really believe that Trump is mentally coming apart at the seams. He doesn't want the job. It's too hard. It's no fun. Always a "ratings" guy he sees his poll numbers breaking records - for unpopularity and disapproval.

I think the guy now lives for the weekends, counting the hours until he can get as far away from Washington as possible.
