One Ad You Won't Be Seeing During Super Bowl and One You Will

Coca Cola and Pepsi weren't happy with the SodaStream ad that was to have run during the Super Bowl broadcast.   And now it's gone, pulled.

Volkswagen seems to have fared better.   Even our own Globe & Mail questioned whether the VW ad was perhaps racist.  You judge.

VW got taken off the hook by pretty much everybody in Jamaica, including the Jamaican government.   It pointed out something the racism crowd overlooked - Jamaica has plenty of Caucasians and Asians who speak with the very same Jamaican accent.   Besides they like the ad because it makes them look happy and positive.

Mound, I'm a little confused, who is offended by this VW ad? Jamaicans are saying they're happy with it. Who is objecting and why?

Mainly people (journos)in Canada and the U.S., LD. That sent them scurrying off to the Jamaicans for indignant reaction only they didn't get it. They seemed to think a white guy speaking with a Jamaican accent was demeaning to all the black Jamaicans who speak like that.

Thank you, Mound. Some journos are trying to create a non-existent story.
