If They're That Frightened - Build Them a Bunker

Better yet, if he's that spineless send Myron Thompson back to the safety of his fields in Alberta.

A committee of MPs has delivered a report to the Commons Board of Internal Economy recommending that Parliament Hill be transformed into something of a fortress:

"The report recommended initial screening for all pedestrians before they enter the Hill. Two more levels of screening would take place at building entrances and outside public galleries in the Senate and Commons chambers.

"MPs on a committee that investigated every aspect of security and toured installations presented the alarming report in the form of a letter to Speaker Peter Milliken in his capacity as chairman of the Board of Internal Economy because they believed it was too sensitive to air publicly through a report to the Commons.

"The report said the committee was "struck'' by the vulnerability of the exterior of buildings on Parliament Hill and other buildings that make up the wider parliamentary precincts off the Hill.
The report said some MPs on the committee suggested barriers around each building similar to the concrete barriers encircling the U.S. embassy as protection against car bombs or vehicles ramming into it.

"'To protect against threats from the exterior of the buildings of the precinct, consideration should be given to establishing set-back zones around these buildings,'' says the report.

"Exterior threats represent a significant gap that would render security measures for the interior of the buildings futile.''

"The committee recommended that "initially'' a "10 or 15-foot set-back'' should be considered.

Hey you damned wimps, it's called 'terrorism' isn't it? You fight terrorism by standing up to it, not lurking behind concrete barriers. You're supposed to be brave, not timid. If you haven't got the guts to do that, resign and let the voters in your riding find someone who does.
