Sometimes You Can't Fix What You Break

Like Iraq f'rinstance.

The mess that exists in Iraq today is the result of a series of bad decisions, one atop the other, that were shaped by a lethal mix of ignorance and stupidity.

Hubris. Here's the Wikipedia take on the word:

"In its modern usage, hubris denotes overconfident pride and arrogance; it is often associated with a lack of knowledge, interest in, and exploration of history, combined with a lack of humility. An accusation of hubris often implies that suffering or punishment will follow, similar to the occasional pairing of hubris and Nemesis in the Greek world. The proverb "pride goes before a fall" is thought to sum up the modern definition of hubris.[4]"

George Bush, "The Decider", has now proved beyond any possible doubt, that his judgment is unsound and not to be trusted. The world has lived with his faulty decisions for five years and the cost has been the lives of hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians.

Now with Iraq on the brink of catastrophic meltdown and with the tinge of smoke spreading throughout the Middle East, The Decider wants to keep calling the shots. There has to be a clean break in this chain of madness. It has to stop.

Sometimes you can't fix what you broke. Sometimes you have to step aside and let someone else try to undo the damage you've caused or as much of the damage as possible.

When Tony Blair returns to London he will face the wrath of his own parliament. He doesn't get to orchestrate things nearly as well as an American president, he can't physically isolate himself from his critics. Tony Blair doesn't have George Bush's bubble.

Maybe that is where this madness will begin to end.
