We've Screwed Up Earth - Time to Move On

Stephen Hawking is an awfully bright fellow. The Cambridge math professor warns that, if mankind is to survive, some of us need to get off this planet.

Hawking sees the future of mankind depending on finding other places to live. He believes that, within 20-years, scientists will fulfill his prediction that mankind would one day "know the mind of God" by discovering the laws governing the universe. He believes this knowledge will be vital to ensuring the survival of our species.

Hawking warns we need to get out of Dodge, way out of Dodge, celestially out of Dodge if we're going to make it. Otherwise he says mankind faces the prospect of being wiped out by nuclear catastrophe or even an asteroid strike.

He gave his warning while receiving Britain's highest scientific award, the Royal Society's Copley Medal.
