Sometime in the next few months Iraq's appeal court will determine the fate of Saddam Hussein. Chances are, by the time you hear of the court's verdict, Saddam will already be dead.
A 'senior Iraqi official' in Baghdad told AFP news service that Saddam and the top aides convicted with him will be executed immediately the appeals court confirms the verdicts. Slam, bam, thank you Saddam.
More than a hundred people, most of them who lost family members, have applied to be the hangman. For a while Iraqi officials considered a public execution in a sports stadium where relatives of Saddam's victims could gather but they felt that might attract mortar or rocket attacks.
