Cambridge Analytical is Dead. Long Live Emerdata.

Cambridge Analytica has been assigned into bankruptcy in both the UK and the US. The company pulled the pin claiming that, after the Brexit/Trump election scandals it was left with no clients and mounting legal bills. The witch died, the flying monkeys were laid off, the whole thing.

Only, not really.  The CA cast and crew have moved to a new outfit called Emerdata.
Although Cambridge Analytica might be dead, the team behind it has already set up a mysterious new company called Emerdata. According to Companies House data, Alexander Nix is listed as a director along with other executives from SCL Group. The daughters of the billionaire Robert Mercer are also listed as directors.
Gone, hardly. It's already May and the American mid-terms are just months away, in November.

So is Emerdata a portmanteau word combining "enmerder" + "data"?

Or perhaps e + merde + data.

Kudos on that catch, Cap. I believe you're onto something.
