Vancouver islanders will soon be able to bask in the beauty of these behemoths. Victoria has approved development of a marina for just such vessels in the inner harbour. True wealth demands nothing less.
The Victoria International Marina will boast 29-slips for yachts from 65' to 150'. Leasing rates per slip range from $9,500 to $11,000 per lineal foot on a 40-year lease.

A couple of weeks ago I noticed an ocean-going yacht large enough to accommodate its own chopper docked at Lonsdale Quay. I've seen some big yachts in the harbor before but never that big. I wondered if it was a local whale who owned such a toy or if it was a visiting out-of-towner. From the window of the SeaBus it was quite an impressive sight to this plebeian. I don't have to tell you how full of conspicuous consumers Vancouver is.
Elliott, It might have belonged to the Washington group? IIRC, they own Cates Towing now, as well as several west coast marine outfits..
@ GAB - the only place around Victoria that could handle Abramovich's yacht would be a jetty in Esquimalt.
Elliott, the biggest locally-owned yacht I can recall was Jimmy Pattison's.
