Britain Looks for True Monarch

Was Edgar a popular name in your family. Anyone named Aetheling?

The search is on for direct descendents of Edgar Aetheling, the last heir to the English throne of King Edward the Confessor, pictured here. When Edward died, Edgar was too young so Harold II was crowned in 1066 and we know how well that went, don't we?

The organization, English Heritage, is placing ads in newspapers in Britain, the US, Australia, Germany and Norway seeking anyone who can trace his lineage back to Edgar Aetheling.

So, if you can trace your lineage back a thousand years and if there's an Aetheling or two in your familial closet, notify these guys at: www.english-heritage.org.uk/hastings. There's no word on prizes for the winner but I don't think they include the throne.
