NATO Bites Back

It's probably still too early for the Taliban's Spring offensive but that hasn't prevented NATO forces from engaging and defeating at least some of them in the field.

In one engagement along the Pakistani border, NATO and US forces used artillery and air strikes to destroy a convoy of trucks entering Afghanistan. Estimates of Taliban dead have ranged from 100 to 150.

I try and imagine the coming disaster in Kandahar. One of the brigades surging into Baghdad is being redeployed from Afghanistan.

Too few troops already and the numbers are being drawn down with full knowledge of an impeding offensive.

Will NATO blow the whistle? I doubt it.
