The Daily Telegraph reports that it has learned from US and European NATO members that Britain is "out of step" with its allies in Afghanistan.
Britain is being criticized for its policy of making arbitrary peace deals with the Taliban in Helmand province. The criticism is focused primarily on a truce negotiated by Britain in Musa Qala under which both British and Taliban forces were to withdraw from the district. Lately large numbers of Taliban have been returning to Musa Qala. Britain still wants to pursue more of these deals even though they've been rejected by the US and other NATO participants.
Other nations complain that Britain's policies are threatening military preparations for the Taliban Spring offensive that could begin as early as next month.

For a detail effort of the British war effort, please read Sean Langan's article on British GQ January 2007 with the lovely Cameron Diaz on the front cover. He has described the conflict in Helmand last September as the most ferocious since the Korean War.
Langan is a non-embedded journalist so his credentials are solid.
