The Washington Post reports how Netanyahu spoke freely of trashing the Oslo Accord.
Netanyahu also bragged how he undercut the peace process when he was prime minister during the Clinton administration. "They asked me before the election if I'd honor [the Oslo accords]," he said. "I said I would, but ... I'm going to interpret the accords in such a way that would allow me to put an end to this galloping forward to the '67 borders. How did we do it? Nobody said what defined military zones were. Defined military zones are security zones; as far as I'm concerned, the entire Jordan Valley is a defined military zone. Go argue."
It has also emerged that when Netanyahu appeared before the UN General Assembly in 2012 with his bomb graphic to claim that Iran was just weeks away from having the weapons grade material to make a bomb he was flat out lying and that his intelligence service, the Mossad, told him that Iran was years away and seemingly not pursuing a weapons programme.
But wait, there's more. Here is Netanyahu in 2002, while he was briefly out of office, appearing before Congress to lie his ass off about Saddam and the non-existent nuclear weapons of mass destruction.
This is a guy whose most powerful talent is an astonishing ability to manipulate Western leaders with whatever lies he thinks will work and he's usually right. This guy is an unrepentant con artist, a true pathological liar. That probably explains his affinity for Harper.

Despite all of this evidence, Mound, I'm sure nothing will dislodge the Harper regime's total and uncritical acceptance of everything Israel does.
When you run so heavily on ideology, Lorne, things like facts and truth quickly lose their currency. In that context, lies are spun more freely with far less concern of them being exposed. If only so many lives weren't put in jeopardy because of it but that too doesn't matter.
Netanyahu is currently under investigation in Israel for corruption (e.g. spending $24K on take out food in a year; charging for housecleaning services for his own house when he and his wife were staying at state facilities, etc.).
Seems to me his values fit right in with our Canadian, I mean, Cons values (e.g. Harper taking the challenger jets to baseball/hockey games in the U.S. with his family and reimbursing only the cheapest economic fares, Baird staying at MacDonald House with his happy friends at taxpayers' largesse, MacKay taking SAR helicopters for his fishing trips, Harper charging almost $10K for 5 upscale haircuts leading to the G8 meeting in Toronto, etc.).
Hopefully, if any charges are forthcoming, he will be charged before our own election. Would be nice to see Harper squirm when he is reminded of his close friendship with this snake.
The sad reality of today, as shown very clearly by the manipulate putz Netanyahu, is that you can repeatedly lie through your teeth because there are no repercussions.
These people - Harper, Netanyahu, Fox, NBC, Bush (the whole family) and others - have no shame and will continue to lie because we believe them and then we don't hold them to account once we wake from our slumber.
He gets away with it not so much because he's such an amazing manipulator as because he was just telling the lies the Americans wanted told. They knew what they wanted to do, and it would be most convenient if they had a liar to pretend to believe, who would tell them it was imperative and noble for them to do it.
What's happening now is that the Americans are finding that right now, at a delicate juncture in the Middle East, they could really use some nuance in the lies they get told. Netanyahu hasn't been willing to oblige with the set of lies they're currently looking for--he insists on doubling down on the lies they can't use at the moment. So suddenly he's persona non grata and they'll get someone whose lies are a little softer.
Harper, meanwhile, along with many Republicans, doesn't see why there should be any need for any wimp-ass velvet gloves over the iron first, nor the velvet lies to go with them.
