A Duty to Abort?

In recent weeks the atheist crowd were left to cringe as one of their leaders, British scientist Richard Dawkins, appeared to defend "light pedophilia." Dawkins said his own schoolboy experience of having a master put his hands down his pants was essentially harmless.  No harm, no foul.

Now Dawkins is at it again.  This time it's to claim that a woman, knowing that she's carrying a Down Syndrome baby, has a duty to abort the foetus.

The British author made the comment in response to another user who said
she would be faced with “a real ethical dilemma” if she became pregnant
and learned that the baby would be born with the disorder.
Dawkins tweeted: “Abort it and try again. It would be immoral to bring it into
the world if you have the choice.”

Richard Dawkins might not believe in god but he acts like he'd love to play one.,

Dawkins didn't even read up on this even just a little bit. He's speaking out his ass.
Woman face stigmatization whether or not they make the decision to abort a fetus at risk of developing Down Syndrome.
Also,
A: woman already make this choice, regardless of Dawknins' damned opinion. B: Only woman in first world countries really have the benefit of testing the fetus for Down Syndrome. C: Not all hospitals in first world countries have access to the machines that can make close to conclusive test results.
Basically, for a whole lot of woman, there's too much uncertainty involved. The rate is something less than 1 in 1000, anyway. For actual families affected by Down Syndrome, there's every increasing amount of knowledge and support available every day.
Actually, after taking the last hour and a half to learn all just even that, I can only draw one conclusion, Dawkins is a fucking dickhead, and his opinion on just about anything is becoming increasingly worthless.

It would seem, Mound, that the kind of fanatical certainty he brings to his evangelizing about atheism has given Dawkins, in his mind, the right to hold forth on any issue that strikes his fancy.

Dawkins is becoming as creepy as he is pompous. Even before his rants on pedophilia and Downs Syndrome he struck me as arrogant and vitriolic.

When I put my tin foil hat on, I find myself musing that perhaps Dawkins is a CIA plant - given a highly visible pulpit to discredit atheists and agnostics.

Or maybe he's just an arrogant fucking dickhead.
